BAJA 2010 - SAN FELIPE AND SERVICE PROJECT

CLICK ON TITLE TO SEE ALL PHOTOS FROM SAN FELIPE AND SERVICE PROJECT

Travis Marx was in charge of the Los Arcos Service Project this year. he was doing it for his Eagle Project.

We ended up giving out over 275 bags and 16 0r 17 bikes. I'm glad the Owner of the store has th job of deciding who gets the bikes. Its tough when all the kids are asking you for one.

The dentists even got to pull a few teeth. Chad Ellsworth and Peter Smith had 49 patients in the hour that we were there. I think for the most part they were just pulling teeth. I'm sure there was some sore mouths the next day.

We ended up leaving right after the Service Project, but we still managed to find time to get down to the Malecon and relax a little bit before we started the ride.

They just hassled us a little bit, but a couple hats later and we were through. The drug sniffing dog was kind of a joke. he was afraid to go inside the trailer and wouldn't go in. He also tried to bite one of the border patrol guys. They're still working on the highway Finally. Made it to the El Cortez and got unloaded.

CALIENTE RIDE OCTOBER 2009

I am finally putting what few pictures we had of the ride up. The trip was great. I think we all had a great time and we definitely need to do it again. We ought to shoot for a ride in April or May depending on the weather. Any ways, here they are in no particular order.

By the way, we did 350 miles in 2 days. Not to bad for not knowing where we were going or what the terrain was like.

We need to try harder to take more pictures. It looks like we spent the whole time hanging out at the Branding Iron. At least Shanes camera did. For those of you that didn't hear, Shane lost his camera in front of the Brandin Iron the night we left to come home and it laid there in the gutter for at least two weeks until someone found it. It just happened to be Casey Folks, who puts on the Besst in the Desert races who found it. He recognized Shane and Robbie from the pictures and and contacted them that he had the camera

Finally a reality show that might be worth watching. Check out the website and the video. Looks pretty cool.
From their website:
"The Master of Baja is an adventure competition featuring dirt bike and action sports stars riding off road motorcycles between the US/Mexico border and Cabo San Lucas over 6/7 days that will feature riding and non-riding tests. 16 riders will be dropped at the border and will ride the entire peninsula of Baja together as a group all the while competing to keep their eligibility through tests.Tests will include epic versions of foot down, hill climbs, rocky obstacle course and wheelie contests on the beach to name a few. In all there are 16 proposed tests through out the days of riding to both take and give back eligibility to the competitors. Eligibility is key because there will be 6 or fewer riders that have it when we reach our destination and only one of the eligible riders will win the lions share of the $50,000.00 prize money. The trip will have a large crew that will live the journey down Baja including test set up, chase and TV film crews. The entire group of riders, film and support crew will cast their vote for the Master of Baja winner, they all will have lived for a week with each other and it should be clear who should be crowned Master of Baja."
Maybe next year we will have our own Master of BAJA.
