Day one of the ride was quite uneventful. We tried to get away ASAP after the Service Project. We were only going 100 miles to Alfonsinas, but we wanted to make it before dark. we were suprised to see how much of the highway they have paved since last year. All but the last 25 miles to Gonzaga Bay is paved.

When we arrived at Alfonsinas, we found out that they had rented some of the rooms that I thought I had reserved earlier. Apparently we were a few beds short. We had 11 beds for 14 riders...oh well. Beats sleeping in the desert with a space blanket.
Greg: Did you see who's sleeping in the same bed? Gross!!!
Shane: I don't want to look!

Dinner made up for the lack of beds.
